COACHING BY THE BOOK:
The Purpose and Passion of a High School Coach

Randy Allen with Kirk Dooley

In one of the nation’s most insightful books on coaching high school football, Randy Allen guides, motivates and inspires prospective young coaches who are considering – and those who have come to believe – that their purpose in life can best be served by mentoring young athletes. Allen’s dedication, hard work and winning attitude have led him to become one of the most successful coaches in the history of Texas high school football. In 2018 he led his Highland Park Scots to their third consecutive Texas state championship – and fourth since 2005 – and he became the fourth-winningest coach in Texas high school football history with a record of 392-87-6. In 2016 Highland Park became the first Texas high school program to win 800 games and Coach Allen was named the Don Shula National High School Coach of the Year. Through his 20 seasons at Highland Park, his home record is 102-1.

Allen’s inspirational book is recommended for all young football coaches, especially those who consider the professional a calling.

An inspirational memoir by one of the country's leading high school coaches.
